How does Opticrom work?
Sodium cromoglycate eye solution is used to help relieve and prevent symptoms associated with allergic conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eye) or hay fever conjunctivitis. Relief of symptoms (itching, tearing, redness, and discharge) usually occurs within two to three days. Sodium cromoglycate works by blocking the release of histamine from cells called mast cells. This prevents the allergic reaction from taking place. Your doctor may have suggested this medication for conditions other than the ones listed in these drug information articles.
